Tru,e sadly but so true.
we dont need health care reform as much as we need good paying jobs for the people so they can afford health care.lot of people working 3 min wage jobs part time with no health care.we need to quit shipping our jobs to china and start paying the people enough they can live!!!just look at the mess the govt has made of social security and worker comp.what u want to have a attorney just to get health care too?
bo stinks and so do his bigger goverment ideas.we need to vote all these jokers out.
It is kind of amazing some “people” think health costs are like buying a car or any other commercial proposition (eg: all the insurance co-sponsored posts on Youtube by varying “people”). You can plan to buy a car or a house: it’s your own responsibility and your money allocation–but you can’t plan a medical affliction. Not the same. I simply note one anti-health plan person on Ytube had her two fave videos as a) a revolver shooting into a tank, and b) a clip of Milton F’man on “Greed”. True!!
Poor spike getting his panties in a twist, gotta love youtube.
We need a public option along with private options. But the public option needs restrictions. Such as if you can affordably buy private health care you cannot buy private. But if you cant affordably buy health care you get the private option. This competition will lower private cost. This will cost less than obama’s plan but the same results
Obama’s Healthcare Reform = a giagantic leap toward socialism
It’s a tax increase during a recession. last time that happened Hoover was in office and we slid into a depression. do your homework and fight this tax.
Ok so if we get a public option. Whats to stop government from regulating and subsidizing the insurance companies out of business? Free market is good but when government gets involved it’s no longer free. Government can then legislate their way to competitive advantages which would drive small companies out of business. When Obama talks about cutting costs, hes talking about less care. Hes a lawyer paid to convince you it wont hurt anything to have an overreaching government option. It wil
‘Terminal’…your name is fitting.
Congratulations on joining a conversation that ended two weeks ago, picking a topic point in the middle of the discussion, taking it out of context, misinterpreting it, and then enlightening us all with something not only blindingly apparent if you had actually read the thread, but utterly inconsequential in your purposed addition to the discussion.
Nicely done…I guess you certainly showed me… Would you care to restate again what I already said?
“is not only bankrupting this nation, but moving us more towards rule by the elite…be they corporations or altruistic ideologues”
Open your eyes. That’s how it already is. Been that way since the Industrial Revolution.
That’s a common argument but is a little misrepresenting of health care in other countries. Take the UK, if you have an emergency, like a heart attack, they will take you immediately. For non-emergencies, yeah you’ll be waiting for a while, but how is that different from the emergency room in the US?
> “There’s nothing wrong with wanting a good health care system, but why should I have to pay for YOU to go to the doctor?”
———————————————–
You are so so wrong about paying for other ppl. In any insurance, whether government run or private insurance, you or your employer pays monthly premium whether u see a doctor or not. So you can’t argue that you r playing for someone’s health care in government plan but not in private insurance…
spike8088 old son..look at CCN news today 16Th of June 2009.. the 3rd story makes my point about so called health care firms doing there best to wiggle out of coughing up for treatment!
seems a woman was diagnosed as having breast cancer and the company refused to pay up? why? because she was treated for ACNE 3 years earlier and had not told them about it! still think your system is such a good thing?oh by the way they did pay up after a great deal of pressure was brought to bare upon them!
This obama thug and the democrats in this delusional health care plan are wanting to include illegal aliens. Hey – we got change!
fcb: Countries with socialized healthcare have cheaper drugs because the government subsidizes the heck out of them through tax money (luckily for us we don’t have to pay for it when we go over there, the citizens of that country do).
The waiting times, of course, are MUCH LONGER than here due to more demands on the system. Do some research before stating your wish fulfillment as a fact. Also, I’d take better care of myself too if I knew if I got ill I might die waiting for treatment. Self-care
Graham: depending on the source the avg life expectancy for males is: US 74-78, UK 75-80. What on earth are you talking about with 62 years and 87? Also, if you’re going to be sarcastic at least use ’sic’ properly. It should have gone after ‘powerful’ not ‘country’.
Take care, friend. I think we’ll have to agree to disagree. It appears we’re going in circles.
but it is spike old son,in the Uk and most other countries the goverment runs the health care system and most of the time it works quite well!we DO pay for it out of our taxes(it’s listed under “National Insurance”)and that covers all health care, unemployment ect ect ect! it’s based on your abillity to pay so NO ONE LOSES OUT! i find it very strange that the worlds most powerful country(sic)can not look after it’s own citizens(the averidge lift of a UK man is 62 for god’s sake! in the UK it’s 87
graham: I am sorry for your loss. However, it is not the purview of the federal government to setup healthcare. If the states; like MA, wish to do so that is their prerogative. But, this massive consolidation of power by the federal government over the decades; under both Rep’s and Dem’s, is not only bankrupting this nation, but moving us more towards rule by the elite…be they corporations or altruistic ideologues. The ‘fairness’ discussed so far is merely redistribution of wealth by force.
yep, ram healthcare thru before his numbers fall into the toilet.
continued from last comment
she was offered a flight back to the UK after 3 weeks to get treated there!
she took it as she had NO CHOICE!
she did get treatment 3 days after she got back, but saddly she died 18 months later
the doctor who was her case surgon told me that the 3 weeks delay was the cause of her death as if the tumour was treated as soon as they found it,she would have had a good chance!
sorry spike8088 old son i was NOT trying to “demonise” the us health care system, what i was doing , was pointing out that if you dont have insurance your screwed! and even if you did,the companies will try to wiggle out of paying !
true example.back in 1985 my girl friend was in the us working, she had insurance and she fell ill! with a brain tumor, she was covered but they refused to pay out and told her she could sue them through the courts but she would be dead before they payed up
There are plenty of rights you have that are not provided directly by the constitution but can be argued for based on the wording of the constitution. There are several constitutionally sound arguments for health care, but it’s all in the interpretation of the words (such as the providing of the general welfare of the union in the Preamble, which can easily be interpreted to the idea that good health = better for the welfare of the union, etc).
Your view of the constitution is not the only one.
graham Citing an example like yours must surely prove your point that US healthcare policy directly leads to mistakes where people are ignored and die. Wait, this from Manitoba: “Brian Sinclair, 45, died while waiting 34 hours for care at the Health Sciences Centre in what some are now calling the worst emergency room failure in Manitoba’s history.”
See how easy it was for me to find a tragic example of the inadequacies of socialized healthcare? Nice attempt at demonizing though.
When did bribe’n become legal?
yay I voted for Max!!
